Professional Security Camera Installation — The Electrical Part Done Right

Most camera system failures come down to one thing — poor electrical work. Cameras that keep dropping offline, systems that lose power in bad weather, cables that look like a mess across your eaves — these are all installation problems, not camera problems. As a licensed C10 electrical contractor, we handle the part that matters most: stable dedicated power to every camera location, clean conduit runs that conceal wiring properly, weatherproof connections for outdoor cameras, and outlets or PoE switches placed where they actually make sense. You pick the camera system. We make sure it’s powered and wired the right way.

What We Install

Hardwired camera systems for homes and businesses — indoor and outdoor locations, clean mounting, and proper power for long-term reliability.

  • Hardwired indoor and outdoor cameras
  • Doorbell cameras with dedicated power
  • Floodlight cameras with wired power
  • NVR/DVR placement with tidy cable management
  • PoE switch installation and network wiring
  • Dedicated outlets at camera locations

Why Hardwired Beats Battery

Battery cameras are convenient to install but frustrating to live with. Hardwired systems are more reliable, more consistent, and don’t require maintenance every few months.

  • No batteries to replace or charge
  • Continuous recording — not just motion-triggered clips
  • Stable power means no random disconnects
  • Better performance in cold weather
  • Supports higher-resolution cameras
  • More reliable in areas with heavy motion activity

Where We Install Security Cameras

Every property has different coverage needs. Here’s how we approach the most common locations.

Front Entry & Driveway

The most important coverage zone for most homes. We position cameras to capture faces at the front door, vehicle plates in the driveway, and the full approach path — with wiring hidden in the eaves or wall.

Backyard & Side Gates

Side yards and back gates are common entry points. We run wiring through exterior walls or conduit to reach these locations cleanly — no extension cords or visible cable across the fence line.

Garage & Workshop

Garages house vehicles, tools, and valuables. We install cameras at the garage door, interior corners, and any secondary access points — with dedicated outlet power for each camera.

Business & Commercial

Retail, office, and commercial properties need camera coverage across parking areas, entry points, and interior zones. We handle the full electrical scope — power, conduit runs, and NVR/DVR placement.

Indoor Locations

Indoor cameras for living areas, entryways, and staircases. We route power and data cable through walls and ceilings to keep the install tidy and avoid surface-mounted cable trays.

Doorbell & Floodlight Cameras

Ring, Nest, Arlo, and similar wired doorbell and floodlight cameras need stable 24V or 120V wiring. We replace old wiring, add new circuits, and ensure proper transformer sizing for reliable operation.

What We Handle on Every Camera Install

The electrical work is what separates a professional install from a DIY one. Here’s exactly what we take care of on every job.

Power & Outlets

  • Dedicated outlet at each camera location — no extension cords
  • Weatherproof outdoor outlet boxes and covers
  • PoE switch outlet with correct circuit sizing
  • NVR/DVR power outlet in a clean, accessible location
  • Surge protection recommendations for recording equipment

Cable Routing & Concealment

  • Conduit runs along exterior walls — no loose cable
  • Wiring fished through walls and ceilings where possible
  • Weatherproof conduit and fittings for outdoor runs
  • Cable color-matched or painted to match exterior finish
  • Drip loops on outdoor camera connections

Camera Mounting

  • Mounting at correct height and angle for optimal coverage
  • Solid backing confirmed before mounting — no loose installs
  • Weatherproof sealing around outdoor mount penetrations
  • Camera angle adjusted and confirmed before we leave
  • All mounting hardware rated for outdoor use

Before We Leave

  • Every camera powered on and confirmed operational
  • Coverage angles verified — blind spots identified and addressed
  • NVR/DVR confirmed recording from all channels
  • All outdoor connections sealed against weather
  • Site cleaned up — no debris, wire scraps, or mess left behind

Why Choose a Licensed Electrician for Camera Installation

Most camera installers aren’t licensed electricians. Here’s why that matters.

We Add Power Correctly

Camera installers add outlets by tapping into existing wiring in ways that aren’t always safe or code-compliant. We install dedicated outlets with proper circuit sizing — the right way.

Licensed & Insured

Any electrical work on your home should be done by a licensed C10 contractor. Our work is code-compliant, properly insured, and won’t create problems at resale or with your homeowner’s insurance.

Clean Cable Routing

We route cable through walls and conduit — not across surfaces held by clips. The result looks professional and protects wiring from weather, pests, and physical damage.

Camera Brand Flexible

We don’t sell camera systems — we install the electrical side of whatever brand you choose. Ring, Nest, Reolink, Hikvision, Dahua, Lorex — we work with all of them.

Written Quote First

We assess your property, plan the cable routes and power needs, and provide a clear written quote before any work starts. You know exactly what’s included and what it costs.

Local & Accountable

Based in Orangevale — not a national service company or a subcontracted crew. You work with us directly from quote to completion, and we stand behind our work.

Sammy is fantastic! Grid Plus does great work, are very fast and offer competitive pricing. They did a major upgrade to our electrical service, replaced main and sub panels, replaced old, ungrounded circuits with new, and added new circuits for an electric dryer, water heater and EV charger. He also coordinated with SMUD for a larger gauge drop. All work was done smoothly and efficiently. Sammy kept us apprised of all steps and was always open to questions and requests. They set up an EV charger for some friends of ours and they were really happy with Grid Plus as well. We have and will continue to recommend Sammy and Grid Plus.

Hired Sami at Grid Plus Electric for an electrical panel replacement and an EV charger install. I got several bids for this job and asked every contractor a long list of questions. Sami answered every single one patiently and honestly, even when the honest answer wasn’t the one that made him the most money. He was also easy to reach the whole way through — a quick call or text and he’d get right back to me. Anyone who’s dealt with contractors knows how rare both of those are.

His price was very competitive, the work was clean, everything passed inspection, and he handled the utility rebate paperwork. When the charger didn’t arrive in time for install day, he came back on a second trip to install it, no complaints and no surprise charges.

Friendly, straightforward, and does exactly what he says he will. If you’re in the Sacramento area and need panel work or an EV charger install, hire Sami. Highly recommend!

Working with Sammy was amazing. He was the first technician to get in contact with me and was at my home within 30min of connecting with me. He was able to diagnose and resolve the problem in less than an hour. And at the last minute I requested additional items to complete and he had all the materials to get the job done. He provided a great price for the quality of work he performed. On top of that he sent detailed explanations, pictures, and videos to assess the problems and show proof of completion, which I greatly appreciated

Security Camera Installation FAQ

Common questions about hardwired security camera installation in Orangevale, Folsom, and the Sacramento area.

Why should I choose hardwired cameras over wireless or battery cameras?
Hardwired cameras offer continuous recording, stable power, and no battery maintenance. Battery cameras only record when motion is detected — missing footage between triggers — and performance degrades in cold weather. Wireless cameras can lose connection during network issues. Hardwired systems are more reliable for long-term security, especially for businesses or homeowners who want continuous coverage rather than motion-clip snippets.
Do you install Ring, Nest, Reolink, and other camera brands?
Yes — we handle the electrical side of any camera brand. Ring, Google Nest, Arlo (wired), Reolink, Hikvision, Dahua, Lorex, Amcrest — we work with all of them. We don’t sell camera systems, so we’re not pushing any particular brand. If you haven’t chosen a system yet, we can advise on what works best for your property layout.
Can you add outlets or power to camera locations?
Yes — this is one of the main reasons to use a licensed electrician for camera installation. We add dedicated weatherproof outlets at each camera location, run circuits from your panel, and install PoE switch power where needed. Every outlet is properly weatherproofed for outdoor locations and sized for the load — no extension cords or unrated connections.
Will the cable runs look clean — no wires hanging off the eaves?
That’s the goal — and it’s what separates a professional install from a DIY one. We route cable through conduit along exterior walls, fish wiring through walls and ceilings where accessible, and conceal runs in attic or crawlspace where possible. The result looks like the cameras belong there — not like someone added them with cable clips and staples.
Do you work on both residential and commercial properties?
Yes — we install for both homeowners and businesses. Commercial installs often involve more camera locations, NVR/DVR rack placement, longer conduit runs, and coordination with IT or security system teams. We handle the full electrical scope regardless of property type.
My camera keeps losing power or going offline — can you fix it?
Yes — camera power issues are usually an electrical problem, not a camera problem. Common causes include an overloaded circuit, a failing outlet, an undersized transformer, or a loose connection that gets worse in wet weather. We diagnose the power supply issue and fix it properly — often replacing the outlet, adding a dedicated circuit, or re-routing the power run.
Do you provide a written quote before starting?
Always. We assess your property, plan camera locations, map out cable routes and power needs, and provide a written quote covering all labor and materials before work begins. For larger or more complex installs, we may schedule a quick site visit first to plan the routing accurately.
Do you serve Orangevale, Folsom, and the Sacramento area?
Yes — we’re based in Orangevale and serve Folsom, Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights, Roseville, Granite Bay, Rancho Cordova, Carmichael, El Dorado Hills, Rocklin, Lincoln, and the broader Sacramento region. Call to confirm availability for your address.
